Registered American Saddlebred Horses
for sale
(last updated 22 December 2011)
It looks like the arthritis is taking its toll and I am having to slow down - no more riding horses. Regrettably, I need to drastically reduce the horse herd. If you see something that interests you, give us a call. Some are pricey, some are real bargains for the quality and ability of the horse, but all are fairly priced so that a profit still exists for the purchaser.
All horses have up-to-date health care; however, cost of current Coggins and any veterinary examinations is the responsibility of the buyer. Contact us with your desires in a horse and price range. We probably have several available.
NOTE: It is customary in our industry that a purchaser's agent receive a commission equal to 10% of the sale price. All prices quoted by the Farm are net to the Farm. If an agent is used, the purchaser is responsible to add 10 % to the prices, either paid to the Farm, which will be dispensed to the agent, or directly to the agent.
FEATURING SHOW HORSES AND PROSPECTS:
We used to send all of the young horses out to a trainer for 30 days of saddle time and basics. They usually left as a late two year old because we believe that the joints and bones, as well as the mind, need some maturity before asking for serious work. All will require ground work and then a total refresher course because they have not been ridden since their initial training. They will remember their lessons with some patience on your part. Saddlebreds are natural sport horses and were used by the US Army Cavalry Jumping Team in the years between WW I and WW II. These old bloodlines offered here are all capable of being credible Sport Horses as Jumper and Dressage competitors or for Endurance or Distance Riding. They can also earn their keep as Working Ranch Horses. The wonderful American Saddlebred Horse is versatile as well as beautiful!

2000 Mare - Fairlawn Belle - Grey - Sire: General Withers by Hell Cats' Reveille, Dam: Konda Gale by Misty Assignment by Special Assignment (Society Rex) out of Sea Scape by Captain Courageous. This mare is a line-bred Kalarama Rex bloodline which is extremely rare today. Konda Gale's bloodlines go back to my Great grandfather's trotting stallions, Almont, who was noted for his fluid trotting action and his almost human intelligence, and to C. M. Clay, Jr., noted for the Clay family fast trot. This mare cribs, so we keep a cribbing strap on her in the stall. She has shown in open harness and under saddle with a novice juvenile rider. She is about 15.3 hands with a long neck and a tiny throat latch. She would make an exceptional broodmare of very old bloodlines. Click for picture Belle has been bred to Wingate's Chindit, a full blood brother to Merrill's Marauder, for an early June foal.
2002 Mare - Our Grey Lady - very dark Grey - Sire: Our Grey Dawn, Dam: Alexandria by Hell Cats' Reveille by Broadlands' Kilarney (full sister to the fine harness stallion, Merrill's Marauder). This mare is lovely but does have a low back. She should go to the Academy or Juvenile classes where she will not be stripped. She is broke to harness and saddle but has not been worked in over a year. She is about 15.2 hands, very pretty with a gorgeous eye and a long neck with show horse ways. Click for picture
2006 Stallion - The Longest Day - Grey, Bay-Based - Sire: Our Grey Dawn by Hell Cats' Reveille, Dam: Perpetual Kiss by The Silver Lining (second dam by Starheart Peavine) - This stallion was sold as a yearling on contract but was never paid for. He was returned in deplorable condition. He did not learn trust with the next owner and was returned. He is now learning that trust. I have bred two mares to him and plan to prove him out as a breeding stallion. He will stand at stud until I decide what to do. If you are interested, call and talk to me. His bloodlines are like no others in the Saddlebred breeding world!
2005 Filly - Bay - Fairlawn's Windsong - Sire General Withers by Our Grey Dawn, Dam Audacious Twigg by Hell Cats' Reveille. She will probably mature around 16 hands. She has show horse ways with a big motor, good looks and so much motion. She will be a show horse or a top sport horse! Audacious Twigg is a fourth generation Twigg on our farm and goes through the dam line to Jack Twigg - very old Denmark blood and very rare today - and Astral King. I have had Cynthia Hecht, distinguished Saddlebred historian and pedigree analyzer, check my broodmare pedigrees for the X-Factor for the large heart.. Her report on Audacious Twigg says that she "appears to be double copy by pedigree and offspring of ancestors. Her bottom line is 6 generations of double copy mares. She has 11 [8-10 is normal in a horse of Louisville quality] Hall of Fame Broodmares in her 5 generation pedigree plus Wing Commander three times in the 5th generation through Command Attention. There are 31 mares in a 5 generation pedigree; 30 of hers appear to be double copy. The only mare that is single copy is BHF mare Nancy Thurman, who obviously passed the heart to Kalarama Rex. I haven't done the cumulative show record yet. Broadlands' Kilarney comes from a line of Hall of Fame Broodmares - his dam, 2nd, 3rd and 4th dams are all in the Hall of Fame. These dynasties of BHF mares are extremely rare. Back further, she has Flirtation Walk and Kate Haines, two of our most legendary broodmares, both of them on each side of her pedigree." None of this can be proven except by measurement, but the pedigree analysis is pretty accurate. General Withers is a cross of our two original stallions, Hell Cats' Reveille by Broadlands' Kilarney and Badge of Gallantry by Gallant Guy O'Goshen, both dominant Denmark bloodlines. She has been long lined and has been ridden a few times. This mare could have been a show mare and then an exceptional broodmare. Click for picture Unfortunately Windsong sustained a horrific injury to a hind leg and it is doubtful that she can be ridden. She has been bred to The Longest Day for an early June foal.
1991 Mare - Liver chestnut- Our Lavender Blue - Registered: The Half Saddlebred Registry of America - Sire Kilarney's Blue Skies by Broadlands Kilarney, Dam Hackney Mare - I bought this 14.2 hand pony to use in the lesson program when she was about 9 years old. She has been used mainly as a lunge line, trotting pony. She is safe to work around and has never offered to kick, bite, strike or do anything wicked. Her only limitation here is that she trots fast and it takes 20-30 minutes of work before she slows down (very typical of the Hackney ponies!). By the time she slows down, the lesson is over. She would do well in a program where there were several lessons using her each day. My students end the lesson with a little bare-back time and she is fine. She is an easy keeper and loves to be groomed and petted. The students all love her. We used her in a clinic, where the students painted her with water-base paint, and she was a very willing subject. She lives in a stall by night and is in the pasture by day and stays away from the aggressive big horses. Our Lavender Blue is a great pony and could go home with someone - can be caught in the field.
2008 - This crop of foals is exceptional. All are blessed with beauty, motion, athleticism, upright necks and all the qualities of the versatile Saddlebred. They are led to and from the paddock each day, farrier has trimmed them and they have been wormed recently. Immunizations were given in November.
2008 filly - Goodbye Kiss - Bay with four tall white socks and a white stripe. Sire: Our Grey Dawn. Dam: Perpetual Kiss by The Silver Lining out of a Starheart Peavine mare. She has 22 Broodmare Hall of Fame mares in her 7 generation pedigree. Quite beautiful, very tall with much motion and that special show horse look. Starheart Peavine traces to my great grandfather's trotting stallion, Almont. She is in training with Koos Van Den Berg in Kentucky. Click for picture
2008 stallion - The Grey Prince - Grey colt by General Withers, Dam Carolina Waltz by Johnny E. Carol has never had anything but a quality foal. This one is a beautiful rose grey, talented, with exceptional motion and worthy of remaining a stallion, definitely a show horse! He has 15 Broodmare Hall of Fame broodmares in his 7 generation pedigree. Click for picture He won the Arizona Futurity Horse Show Open 2 Year Old In Hand class. See ring photos at the top of the web page. He is in training with Koos Van Den Berg in Kentucky.
2009 - Once again, we have an outstanding crop of youngsters. They are all capable of going to the show ring or sport horse arenas. All are broke to lead and to be caught at the gate of the paddock to return to their stall at night.
2009 gelding - Our Liberator - Chestnut with wide white stripe and chrome. Sire: Wingate's Chindit, Dam: Ice Dreamer by Vanilla Ice. He is tall with lots of substance and is short backed with just enough angle to the croup to rack. He has so much motion and is absolutely beautiful. He has 16 Broodmare Hall of Fame mares in his 7 generation pedigree. Click for picture
2009 filly - Queen of Battle - Chestnut. Sire: Caisson, Dam: Rhapsody in Motion by Castletown, 2nd dam by Broadlands Kilarney. Caisson's first foal, and what a great beginning! A very tall filly with the good looks of her triple Broadlands Kilarney bloodlines, long neck and lots of motion. This little lady has 23 Broodmare Hall of Fame mares in her 7 generation pedigree! This filly somehow broke her neck her weanling year. She is healed but will never be as high headed as she once was. She is suitable as a broodmare and possibly as a limited use riding horse. Her price is so cheap that I will only tell you if you call. If not sold, I plan to breed her next Spring and she will be offered as a bred mare.
2009 filly - Fairy Mist - Grey/dark chestnut base. Sire: Pacific Mist, Dam: Gallantry's Jarmara by Badge of Gallantry by Gallant Guy O'Goshen. Small and dainty, but catching up. She is intelligent, beautiful and talented, much motion, high-set neck, everything is right on her. She has 21 Broodmare Hall of Fame broodmares in her 7 generation pedigree.
2009 filly - Kiss In The Mist - Grey/bay base filly. Sire: Pacific Mist, Dam: Perpetual Kiss by The Silver Lining, 2nd dam by Starheart Peavine. Beautiful and very tall, flashy, great motion, long neck, what more would you desire? Starheart Peavine traces to my great grandfather's trotting stallion, Almont. She has 22 Broodmare Hall of Fame broodmares in her 7 generation pedigree. She is a 7/8 sister to Goodbye Kiss, who is now in training in Kentucky with Koos Van Den Berg.
2009 Fillies - Spicey Twigg and friend. Both are sired by Coosa by General Withers by Our Grey Dawn (dam, Konda Gale). Coosa is a full brother to Ocoee and Fairlawn Belle. One is proven by DNA to be out of Classy Twigg, who was bred without my knowledge and consent and the resulting filly was given away at two months of age. She was found by a kind lady with another filly who is also by Coosa. The breeder refuses to sign a breeder's certificate, so she will never be fully identified. The kind lady took care of these two stunted and starved fillies for nearly a year. They are beautiful rose greys, broke to handle, but need patience and kindness. Classy Twigg's daughter is now registered, but the other filly will never be registered unless the breeder decides to reveal the dam. They cannot be separated at this time. Call for details. 2011 colt- Pacific Storm - Grey/bay base. Sire: Pacific Mist, Dam: Rhapsody in Motion by Castletown, 2nd dam by Broadlands Kilarney. ... beautiful, high-headed, tall, gorgeous eyes and ears, long neck and very tough! He will be a show horse! Click for picture
